Barrington Chapter of Green Drinks

Tomorrow is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and there’s a fun new way in Barrington to find out how you can help protect the planet.  It’s a group that is growing called “Green Drinks Barrington” and it’s made up of local folks who share a passion for improving the environment. They meet on the third Wednesday of each month and tonight’s the night for their April get-together.

Barrington Chapter of Green DrinksThe Barrington group is one of over 600 Green Drinks chapters throughout the world.  The organization is sort of a grass roots effort to help people learn about how little changes  in our daily lives can make a big difference for Mother Earth.  At each month’s meeting, they’ll feature a speaker on topics ranging from recycling to water conservation to energy efficiency.

The guest speaker for tonight’s gathering is a guy named Marshall Hjertstedt and he’ll be talking about what goes in to designing greener buildings. Hjertstedt is the president of Chicago-based Architecture and Engineering firm, MFH Associates and he’s the Vice Chair of the Chicago Chapter of the US Green Building Council.

If you’re interested in learning more about the group, there’s plenty of info on their website at GreenDrinks.org/il/barrington. If you’re on Facebook, you can join the group by clicking HERE or RSVP for tonight’s event by clicking HERE.  If you’re not on Facebook, that’s no problem.  The organizer says you’re welcome to drop by Francesca’s tonight to check them out.

Tonight’s event starts at 6PM and goes until 9PM.  The presentation starts at 6:45.  There’s a cash bar and plenty of food available to order off the menu.  But the conversation, information and opportunity to network are FREE and meant to show that being good to the Earth is easy, inexpensive and can also be fun!
