There is a lot of buzz and excitement about the Barrington Art Festival coming up over Memorial Day weekend. The festival will take place in downtown Barrington on May 29th and 30th and today begins our “Barrington Art Festival Countdown” here at 365Barrington.com.  Over the next week, we’ll be adding information here daily about the artists and musicians who will be featured in the upcoming festival or are from the Barrington area.  To help get your artistic juices flowing, we’re starting with an event that is taking place tonight at the Barrington Area Library.  It’s an opportunity to meet and learn from one of Barrington’s finest photographers.

Bruno VanoudenhoveThe artist who took the photograph above is a Barrington resident by the name of Bruno Vanoudenhove. He will be at the Barrington Area Library tonight from 7 to 8:30PM to demonstrate his process of painting from photographs to create his black and white acrylic works. Vanoudenhove was born in Belgium, raised by a family of fine furniture craftsmen and is a former marketing director for a famous Belgian chocolatier. He married and moved from Belgium to Barrington where he began his career as a freelance Architectural Photographer.

Having spent years traveling through Europe, Vanoudenhove developed a love of the architectural symmetry displayed by historic architectural monuments. When he first arrived in the United States, he was awed by the way magnificent buildings, skylines and concrete blend with nature. He transforms his appreciation of metropolitan landscapes into stunning and elegant expressions of art.
