The 2010 Brat Tent officially opens today, kicking off Barrington’s 2010 Fourth of July festivities.  There’s a full schedule of July Fourth fun taking place this week in downtown Barrington and we’re going to be sharing the details daily here at 365Barrington.com

Celebrating July Fourth in Barrington

The party starts tonight! The Brat Tent will be open from 5 to 11:30PM at the North Metra commuter lot at Spring Street.  Here’s the line up of entertainment for today:

  • Face Painting:  5-7PM

  • Flip Books:  5-9PMUsing new digital technology, plus old-fashioned ingenuity, people can now create their own personalized party favors – Courtesy of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital
  • Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course:  5-9PM 

    A cool inflatable course where kids jump, climb, squeeze and slide their way through 80 feet of wacky obstacles – Presented by Pepsico Chicago

  • Jacobs Ladder:  5-9PM 

    An inflatable where two competitors race up ladders to see who makes it to the top first – Presented by Pepsico Chicago

  • Live Music:  “Not for Profit”  8-11:30PMA cover band featuring classic rock: Beatles, Van Morrison, Chicago, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, Blues Brothers,
    Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Aretha, B-52’s, Talking Heads, anything cool, really.  Find samples of their music at their website, NFP-Rocks.com.  Presented by Barrington Bank and Trust

There is a daytime (10AM – 5PM) special for kids over age 3 at the Brat Tent which includes unlimited access to all activities, a hot dog, chips and soda for $5.  Adult admission is FREE during these hours.  The cost of evening admission after 6PM is $5 for adults, $1 ages 14-17 and admission for kids 13 and under is FREE.

There will be plenty of drinks and food available at the tent this year, including brats, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, chips, nachos, ice cream, beer and wine thanks to the Brat Tent’s main sponsors, Millrose Brewery and Rose Packing, Barrington Bank and Trust and Harris Bank.

All funds raised will benefit initiatives organized by the five community service organizations that host the Brat Tent festivities.  They are the Barrington Junior Women’s Club, Noon Rotary Club of Barrington, Breakfast Rotary Club of Barrington, Lion’s Club of Barrington and Kiwanis Club of Barrington.

The annual Brat Tent is a Barrington tradition that dates back to the 70’s and thousands of people come out for the festivities each year.  For more information, visit the committee’s website at Barrington4thofJuly.com.
