Precision Marching Lawn Chair Dads

Now here’s a group that marches to the beat of a different drummer! For the first time ever, the “Precision Marching Lawn Chair Dads” will be strutting their stuff down Barrington’s Main Street, between breaks, during Saturday’s Fourth of July Parade.

Precision Marching Lawn Chair Dads

The Lawn Chair Dads are a group of 30 friends from McHenry County who got together back in 1994, choreographed a special lawn chair show in military formation and perform dressed in boxers, tank tops, black socks and sandals.  They’ve been called the “most sought after parade act in Illinois” and here’s a video preview:

The parade starts this Saturday, July 3rd, at 10AM. Participants will march down Barrington’s Main Street from the High School to the Metra Station.

Running for the Fourth of JulyIf you’d like to get a little exercise before the parade, there is still time to sign up for the “Do Good Run”, formerly known as “Run for the Arts”. It’s the  15th annual “parade-prelude” 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk or 2K Walk that starts at 7:30AM Saturday morning at the intersection of Cook Street and Park Avenue. Online registration is closed, but you can register in-person at Good Shepherd Health and Fitness Center, the race sponsors, at 1301 S. Barrington Road. The price to participate ranges from $15 to $33 and proceeds will benefit the Barrington Cultural Commission, a 21-member group whose purpose is to coordinate and cross-promote Barrington’s many cultural activities throughout the year.
