One of Barrington’s most special evenings out is coming up this weekend. The fourth annual “Concours d’Elegance” garden-party gala will take place this upcoming Sunday, July 11th.

About 40 of Chicagoland’s rarest and most exclusive vehicles will be on display on the lawn and under the stars at Makray Memorial Golf Club. There are still some tickets available, but only a limited number, and it’s all for a really important cause.

The theme for this year’s show is “Windy City Wonders” and classic cars and motorcycles featured for the dinner are from some of the Chicago area’s most prestigious private classic car collections. These cars are truly one-of-a-kind, including race cars from the 1940s and 1950s and cars previously owned by Hugh Hefner and the family of Chicago State Street developer, Potter Palmer.

If you can’t make the garden-gala, but still want to participate, there’s a road rally taking place earlier in the day. About 50 cars and drivers will meet at 10:15AM Sunday morning at the Hamilton Partners Corporate Center at 800 Old Hart Road, just south of Northwest Highway and north of Main Street by Barrington High School. From there, the cars will embark on a forty mile drive through the Barrington countryside. If you want to check out the cars as they stage for the rally, admission is FREE and there will be some pretty special cars taking part, from Lamborghinis to Ferraris to cool vintage trucks from the 40s and 50s.  The Mercedes Benz Club of Chicago is bringing some of their cars, too!

Protecting Barrington’s beauty, land and wide open spaces is the purpose of the Concours d’Elegance road rally and garden-party gala.  The events are part of a major fundraising effort to support the Barrington Area Conservation Trust.  The B.A.C.T. was founded in 2001 to help preserve the open land, rural character and scenic, historic, recreational and ecologically significant resources of the Barrington area.  The group works with private landowners, Barrington-area village governments and developers to “protect large parcels of land that are in danger of being sold and re-zoned for development,” according to Concours Executive Director, Patty Dowd Schmitz.

Tickets for the Barrington Concours d’Elegance garden-party gala are $150 each, the cost to enter your car in the road rally is $50 and you can register to do both by visiting BarringtonConcours.org.
