After just seeing the “Sting” concert last weekend, I’m in the mood to see more live music, picnic-style. But you don’t have to go all the way to Ravinia to see an outdoor concert. There are three more FREE concerts coming up at the Citizens Park Ampitheater right here in Barrington. The next one is tonight and it’s a performance by a popular Chicagoland band called “Thunder Road“.

2010 Free Concert Series at Citizens ParkWhen “Thunder Road” first started the band in Chicago’s western suburbs, they were a classic 70’s and 80’s rock band covering artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, John Mellencamp, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and many others. But when Bruce Springsteen quit touring with the E Street Band, “Thunder Road” decided to reinvent their band to be a tribute to “The Boss”. The band filled a void with long-time Springsteen fans and quickly became a favorite on the local scene.  To learn more about the group, visit their website at ThunderRoadLive.com. They’ll take the Citizens Park stage tonight at 7PM.

There are two more free concerts in the park coming up. After tonight, the next show is at 7PM on Wednesday, July 28th when Barrington’s own band, “Way Past Curfew” will entertain with high energy rock ‘n roll favorites. And at 6:30PM on Wednesday, August 3rd, “The Juke Box Band” will perform during America’s 27th annual night out against crime. “The Juke Box Band” can plan virually any pop tune and they shift from classic rock to blues to country, jazz and oldies.
