The pre race activities will begin at 8AM outside the Metra Station in downtown Barrington this Saturday morning, and the run starts at 9:11 Sharp! If you’re not up for running 9.11 miles, there’s also a 9.11 kilometer (5.6) mile route and you’ll find course maps clicking HERE.  You can register in advance online through this Thursday, September 9th, by clicking HERE.  The registration fee for the 9.11 mile run is $40 and the 9.11 kilometer walk/run is $35.  Registration is either free or deeply discounted for members of the US Military.  The Freedom Run is sponsored by “We Do Care“, a non-profit group that provides ways for us to thank and show support for military personnel and their families.  Here’s a look at a video of the inaugural 9.11 Freedom Run in Barrington.

The race will be followed by We Do Care’s 7th Annual Family Freedom Festival starting at noon on Saturday. There will be family and children’s activities, food, a beer garden and special military speakers from the front lines. You’ll find a coupon for a free slice of pizza by clicking HERE.  There will also be some great live music.  The Righteous Hillbilles will take the stage from 5-6:30PM.  Check out this video for a little preview of their show:

And Dave Matthews tribute band, Trippin Billies will perform from 7-9:11PM.  The festival is free and will be held, rain or shine, at Barrington’s Metra Station which is at 201 Spring Street. For more information, visit We-Do-Care.org.
