The Swankie Soiree and Teens for Teens

Next Friday, September 17th, there’s a pretty posh party planned at Biltmore Country Club and there’s still time to RSVP. It’s called the “Swanky Soiree” and it’s a fundraiser for several initiatives that help disavantaged kids, including an after school program in jeopardy of being cut in Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood.

Tickets for the “Swankie Soiree” are $125 each. The event starts at 6:30PM next Saturday, September 17th, and includes cocktails, dinner, live music, auction events and dancing.

Barrington Students Help Disadvantaged KidsOrganizers hope to raise $50,000 at the Swanky Soiree for three initiatives. “Hope Alive” is a program that provides a safe, supportive and educational after school environment for kids in Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood. Barrington eighth graders have gotten to know kids in this program through the second beneficiary of this fundraiser. It’s the “Teens for Teens” club, a group that hosts one activity each month geared toward helping disadvantaged kids. The third group that the “Swanky Soiree” will benefit is “Warriors with a Future,” a club at Collins Academy High School in Chicago’s high-crime North Lawndale neighborhood that supports young men who are at risk to join gangs or drop out of school.
