178. Goebbert’s Farm Market Fall Festival
It’s Back! The fall fun at Goebbert’s Farm Market in South Barrington is in full swing once again, starting today, and will last through Halloween. There are also some new attractions that you won’t want to miss at Goebbert’s this year and we’re giving away free pumpkins, too!
Goebbert’s offers a huge selection of pumpkins, apples, gourds, squash, cider, homemade pies and all kinds of seasonal treats. There are wagon rides, a “Straw Town Maze” for the little ones, “Corn Stalk Maze” riddled with dead ends, “Pig Racing” and “Kettle Corn” and “Corn Roasts” on the weekends, Pony and Camel Rides, a Haunted House and “Animal Land” petting zoo with cows, pigs, sheep, chicks, reindeer, llamas, wallabies and emus. The “Red Barn Cafe and Bakery” is open for business, offering apple cider, donuts, pies, brats, pizza, hot chocolate and more! Plus, there are also some new attractions this year, including a “Jumping Pillow” which is like a giant moonwalk where kids can bounce til they drop. There’s also a “Giraffe Barn” where you can walk up a large ramp, be eye-to-eye with and actually feed two full-size giraffes.
Goebbert’s Farm Market is a working family farm and has been in South Barrington since 1972. Jim Goebbert is semi-retired, but his sons, Lee and Lloyd still run the family farms in South Barrington and Hampshire, Illinois. If you drop by the South Barrington farm with your family this year, you might find Lee watering the flowers or working the farm. He and his family live right there in the house you’ll see in the parking lot.
But it can get crowded at Goebbert’s, especially as Halloween approaches, so here’s an insider tip…The office manager, Sue Murdock, says, “It’s wonderfully quiet here during the week, especially first thing in the morning. You can really take your time and it’s more cost effective.” She also says that Sundays are busier than Saturdays. They’re forecasting that their busiest day will be Sunday, October 17th and the weekend before Halloween it going to be a busy one, too.
The cost to enter the petting zoo is $4 during the week and $7 on weekends. The farm is open weekdays from 9AM until 7PM, on weekends from 9AM until 6PM and on holidays from 9AM until 4PM. Goebbert’s located one mile west of Barrington Road on Higgins Road at 40 W. Higgins Road in South Barrington. For more information, visit their website at PumpkinFarms.com.
As Barrington Realtors, every year my mom and I partner with Goebbert’s and give away free pumpkins to people we’ve helped buy or sell homes in the past. If you’d like us to mail you one of our “Free Pumpkin” postcards, just enter your info in this form and watch for our postcard in your mailbox in the coming days. Thanks for being here!
