Well, you’ll find a whole bunch of ideas and options at the Barrington Park District’s 9th Annual “Showcase of Arts and Treasures” happening at the brand new Fitness and Recreation Center this weekend. The featured artist at this year’s event works wonders with wire and metals. She’s a jewelry designer by the name of Anita Peters.

I also caught up with the show’s featured artist, Anita Peters, today to ask her about her favorite Thanksgiving tradition and what she’s thankful for this year and this is what she had to say:

It’s an old family recipe that’s been handed down from generation to generation from my mom’s side and my boys (ages 10 & 12) are just starting to learn how to make it. It’s something fun that we do together.” And when I asked her what she’s most thankful for she said, simply, “Family. But I think these days you can be thankful for a roof over your head and food and clothing and to be able to put my boys through hockey, baseball and travel sports. Not everybody can afford to do that.” Anita also says many of the artists at this weekend’s show are trying to keep their prices lower to be sensitive to the budgets of their customers this year.
