Downtown Barrington will be buzzing this Saturday afternoon as the community comes out out for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony and visits with Santa.

The festivities begin at Noon on December 4th and last until 7PM. There will be free carriage rides, Madrigal Singers and extended evening shop and restaurant hours. But the highlight will be happening right at 5PM…

That’s when Santa arrives to officially light Barrington’s Christmas tree at the corner of Main (Lake Cook Road) and Cook Streets. The lovely ornaments on the Village Christmas Tree this year were made by the talented children at Grove Avenue School. After the tree lighting ceremony, Santa will head on over to his red Santa House which will be set up on South Cook Street to visit with kids about this year’s holiday wish lists. He’ll be entertaining visitors from 5 to 7PM so be sure to remember your camera for those not-to-miss photo moments. Refreshments and hot cocoa will be served to help you warm up and continue the holiday cheer after the tree lighting ceremony.

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, Village officials are asking us to help fill the Barrington Food Pantry by bringing canned food items to the Tree Lighting Ceremony and to all Santa visits during the holiday season. They’ll be sure these items make it to area families who need a little extra help this year.
