Barrington’s newest church is opening its doors to the public tomorrow morning for its Grand Opening celebration. They have invited us all to drop by to tour the new facility, attend services, meet members and sip complimentary coffee in their new cafe tomorrow between 8:30 and 1PM.

The Orchard Evangelical Free Church has it’s roots in Arlington Heights where it was created nearly sixty years ago by a group of families who started meeting to study the bible together.

The Christian Protestant church expanded and established a campus in Itasaca and now in Barrington. They purchased the 120,000 square foot building on the 10-acre property at 1301 S. Grove, formerly JFK Health World, for about $7-Million in 2009. The church spent up to $4-Million renovating the building and spokeswoman, Ruth Guillaume, says they’ve created wide open spaces for people to gather and visit including a worship space, book store, computer stations and a cafe, which they’ve named “The Grove Cafe”, a nod to the church’s address, its name and its mission. “We’re a church about roots, life and fruit. We teach the Bible to help people dig spiritual roots. We connect people with each other through small groups, called ‘Life Groups'”. And, Guillaume says, “By ‘bear fruit’, we mean go out and be of service to the community.”

Orchard Church offers two Sunday services each week. The 9AM service is more contemporary with drums, guitars, keyboards and a vocalist. They call their 10:45 gathering a “classic service” with a choir, orchestra, piano and organ. Both of those services will take place during tomorrow’s Grand Opening and you’ll find the church at 1301 S. Grove, a few doors down from Barrington’s Main Post Office.
