It’s that time of year again! Two Barrington moms are hosting a their seasonal boutique and designer children’s clothing and baby gear consignment sale this week and they’re busy setting up as we speak.
Over 230 consignors have contributed more than 14,000 items to this week’s four-day sale which starts this Thursday, March 3rd and runs through Sunday, March 6th.
We didn’t even have to watch last night’s Academy Awards to know who the winners were. All you had to do was take a look at our 2011 Barrington Oscar Poll. Last night’s top winners were all predicted by Barrington movie fans right here at 365Barrington.com.
You called it right, but what did you think of the show? I have a few critiques that leave me with an urge to apologize. But I’m sharing my thoughts and sticking to ’em today, about the hosts, the winners, the thankers and the criers…

With more snow in the overnight forecast, I’m happy to have reason to show you this photo I took during last May’s Barrington Art Festival. Puffy clouds, bright blue skies, sleeveless shirts and, yes, Barrington’s 2011 Memorial Day Weekend Art Festival are right around the corner. Do you remember how hot it was during last year’s festival? I do! Now I’m daydreaming….about sunshine and summer fun. (sigh) Ok, I’m back. Anyway, Barrington Art Festival organizers have just started recruiting all “youth” artists who want to feature their work this year.
The company that runs Barrington’s art festival, Amdur Productions, just opened the application process for the festival’s Youth Art Division.
With last week’s mystery photo we challenged you to identify the buildings and streets shown in a “Birdseye View of Historic Barrington” and we consulted with a local history expert who chose our winner. And the winner is…
You’ve seen it on TV. The crime happens, the evidence is collected and the crime is solved, all within an hour! Let’s face it. The TV version of CSI doesn’t quite paint an accurate picture of a true crime scene investigator. But you can see, first-hand, how the pros solve crimes by signing up for a brand new class being offered by the Barrington Park District.
“CSI Barrington” classes are offered for adults and teens and start next week on Monday, February 28th.

The book this month is called “Listening is an Act of Love”.
“Listening is an Act of Love” is a collection of personal interviews from the StoryCorps project.

If you’re fascinated by local history and the photos of yesteryear, I hope you’ll enjoy our new mystery photo this week. There’s some history involved with last week’s mystery photo as well and we’ll reveal that winner in just a minute. But first, I want to share this week’s “history mystery” photo. It’s an image that the Barrington Area Library has in its archives. It’s a birdseye view of Barrington taken in the early 20th century. And if you can name name any of the streets or historic buildings shown in this photograph, you’ll be eligible for this week’s prize. Plus, there will be a special bonus prize for anyone who can guess where the photographer was standing when he took this picture!
I’ve asked a local Barrington historian to review today’s mystery photo and we’ll share her analysis when we reveal the winner on Wednesday of next week. We’ll also get to our new prize in just a minute. But first, let’s talk about last week’s winner. Just moments ago we drew the winning name and it is…
