It’s the fourth annual Chili & Music Fest, we’re all invited and you will be excited when you hear how this party is helping change the way students and parents in Barrington learn.

Barrington’s District 220 Educational Foundation organizes the Chili & Music Fest every year to raise money for one of our community’s most important causes…

Their mission is to “Find the funds for initiatives that enhance learning but are not otherwise supported by tax revenues.” Every year, educators throughout the school district apply for Foundation funds. Projects are reviewed by the board of directors each spring and moneys are granted. The 220 Foundation has raised well over 1-Million dollars over the past 11 years for a whole range of initiatives, from buying the equipment for the BHS-TV department to building new playgrounds to bringing a brand new Engineering Curriculum, equipment and learning tools to Barrington High School. Margarita Geleske has three boys in School District 220. She is on the Foundation Board of Directors and says, “I think it improves the quality of living and learning for the entire community. It is directly benefiting our students and also having a spill over effect on the quality of life in Barrington. It keeps our community vibrant, energetic and attractive as a place to live and learn.”

There are three ways we can all get involved.  The first is the most fun.

  1. Come on out to the Chili & Music Fest at the Onion Pub and Brewery at 22221 N. Pepper Road in Lake Barrington next Saturday night, March 12th. The party starts at 7PM and will feature delicious chili samplings along with a live performance by Way Past Curfew, one of Barrington’s most popular local bands. The price is $75 per person, with a cash bar.  There are also sponsorship opportunities which you can learn more about by clicking HERE.
  2. If you can’t make this event, you can quickly and easily make an online donation by clicking HERE.
  3. Stay tuned for details about the Foundation’s late summer golf outing, another opportunity to support the Foundation and participate in the school district’s latest educational initiatives.
