344. "Hot Happenings" in Barrington for March 10-13

There’s a lot going on in Barrington this weekend so I put together a list of “Hot Happenings” that you might want to check out. The first is a concert at Barrington High School this Friday night featuring the University of Notre Dame Glee Club.

Notre Dame University Glee Club Christmas ConcertThe March 11th concert starts at 8PM. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. They’re available through the Barrington High School Fine Arts office (847-842-3280) prior to the event and will also be available to purchase at the Box Office on the evening of, beginning at 7PM. You’ll find more information about the group at GleeClub.ND.edu.

The Lucky Monk Burger, Pizza and Beer Co. is offering a special deal called “Monk & a Movie” through April 30th. You’ll receive one  complimentary AMC Movie Pass for each “Perfect Ticket” menu purchased. That menu includes a beverage, appetizer, soup or salad, entree & dessert (excluding sandwiches).

The Onion Pub Hosts the Barrington District 220 Foundation Chili and Music FestDon’t forget to check out Chili and Music Fest happening this Saturday night with a performance by Way Past Curfew at The Onion Pub in Lake Barrington. It’s hosted by the Barrington School District 220 Educational Foundation. Tickets are $75 each and all proceeds will pay for school initiatives that enhance learning but are not otherwise supported by tax revenues. Nature Photographers Featured for March "Second Friday" Series at the Barrington Area LibraryThe Barrington Area Library is again hosting their “Second Fridays” series this weekend with a reception where you can meet nature photographers, Jim & Diane Bodkin. Stop by from 7-8:45 Friday night to view their exhibit, “Exploring Nature Through the Lens”.  Register online HERE and find more information at BodkinPhotography.com.

Irish Music Duo Performs a Pre St. Patrick's Day Concert at the Barrington Area LibraryAlso at the library on Friday night, you can get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with a concert by Irish duo, Banna from 8-9:15PM.  “Named for one of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland, Banna has been singing Irish favorites together for almost 10 years. Comprised of a beautiful blending of rich voices, guitar and keyboard, Banna’s music will transport you to a joyous place.”  Sounds good to me!

And here’s something cool, just for guys! Barrington-area photographer, Emily Hernandez, is hosting a “Dads with Cameras” class in her Lake Zurich home this from 1-5PM this Sunday, March 13th.  During the class, Emily teaches the basics of using a SLR camera and shows you how, with a few easy adjustments, you can greatly improve the quality of your photographs. The cost is $75, a workbook binder and snacks are provided and there are still six spots available.
