347. Help Earthquake & Tsunami Victims in Japan

1 min read

Words alone can’t do much to help the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan, but our actions can. According to the latest media reports, tens of thousands are feared dead and close to 600,000 are homeless.

Rescue crews continue to search for buried survivors. The threat of more nuclear reactor explosions looms. And people everywhere are panicking about whether they’ll find lost loved ones and where they’ll find food and shelter. According to today’s Washington Post, one Red Cross official says that hospitals in coastal towns are running out of food and milk for babies. With many roads blocked, officials are making plans to deliver food by sea or air. These images captured on video show early scenes of devastation as fear quickly turned to panic.

We watch these scenes from so far away, but as we sit at our computers, our help can happen with mere mouse clicks. If you feel motivated, like I do, to do SOMETHING, here are a few ways we can help, according to the Associated Press.
