If you love fine wine and savor opportunities to sip samples from around the globe, you don’t want to miss tomorrow night’s 7th Annual “Uncork Barrington” event. I have attended this party every year since it started back in 2005 and, like a fine wine, it just keeps getting better with age.

The party starts at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, July 8th, and the planners have decided to extend the end time an hour this year, until 10 p.m., to accommodate those who get home later from work. When you enter the event, you’ll receive a complimentary wine glass and a wine passport to track your tastings.  There will be 50 different wines from all regions of the world available to sample along with complimentary hors d’oeuvres from some of the finest local restaurants.

Along with the wines, there will be live music and food samplings served by Francesca’s Famiglia, Chessies/111 Grille, Coopers Pizzeria, On Occasion Catering, Georgio’s Pizza, Sweet Pea Cakes and more.  And if you don’t care for iwne, water, coffee and soft drinks will also be available.

The price of admissions is $45.00 if purchased in advance and $50 at the gate.  You can buy tickets in advance at the following locations in Barrington:  Wine Discount Center at 311 E. Main Street, Coopers Pizzeria at 117 S. Hough Street and Barrington Print & Copy at 200 James Street.

Uncork Barrington will take place in the north commuter parking lot at East Station and Spring Streets, right by Barrington’s Metra station.  The event is hosted each year by the Barrington Village Association.  That’s the same group that organizes the Barrington Farmers Market every Thursday.  The group’s goal is to “Bring neighbors together and enrich life in the center of our community by highlighting our downtown’s positive points.”  The BVA will contribute money raised from Uncork Barrington tickets sales to local charitable organizations.  To learn more about the event, visit the Uncork Barrington Facebook page by clicking HERE or check out their website at UncorkBarrington.com.
