82. Santa Welcome, Tree Lighting & Holiday Festivities

This is it!  The Day is here.  When Santa Claus will Reappear.

He’s coming on a fire truck.  And his guest house is all set up.

Our tree will sparkle in the night when St. Nick lights it up so bright.

5 p.m. Tree Lighting TONIGHT in Barrington!

You’ll want to see and hear, for sure, the town’s best Christmas carolers

And sip hot chocolate inside or climb aboard a carriage ride.

A trolley will be making stops at all the best holiday shops.

Santa Arrives in Barrington: Saturday, December 3, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Plan your day to visit all 4 of these unique holiday events:

Candy Cane FestivalFoundry Shopping Center, 10am – 2pm

Photos with Santa, a petting zoo of baby animals, free antlers at G. Whiz, write a “letter to Santa” at Little Shop of Papers, explore a Barrington fire truck and visit participating retailers for special treats, activities and surprises.  Santa arrives at 10:30 a.m. to visit with children and have photos taken, hosted by Baird & Warner.  Start your day at this fun event!

Winter Wonderland – Ice House Mall, 11am – 4pm

Visit for a magical story hour by Mrs. Claus, followed by cookies & milk. At 1:30pm, enjoy a holiday dance presentation of “The Nutcracker” by Midwest Dance Collective, under the direction of Ellen Werksman. Enter to win the Land of Sweets Display by Sweet Spot Candy. At 2:30pm, be a part of Santa’s Grand Welcome – Children will receive magic wands to greet Santa and the Nutcracker Dancers as they arrive by trolley to our Winter Wonderland for visits and photos at 2:30. Children can wave their magical wands as Santa and his friends depart for Ginergerbread Land and the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration.

Gingerbread LaneThe Shops on Lageschulte – 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Gingerbread Lane comes to life with candy canes and gingerbread boys and girls lining the street, strolling carolers, photos with gingerbread people & an ice sculpture carving demonstration at Norton’s U.S.A.  There will be activities & fun for all ages!   Santa arrives at 4:00 pm to visit the children before he climbs aboard the Barrington Fire Truck and makes his way into the Village Center to light the Village Christmas tree.

Barrington AglowVillage Center on South Cook Street – 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Carriage rides on Cook St. from 1 – 5;00 p.m., strolling Madrigal Singers, free hot chocolate & cookies and Santa’s arrival on the Barrington fire engine at 5:00 pm to light the Christmas tree.

After his arrival, Santa will visit with children in his red Santa House on South Cook Street from 5pm-7pm, checking his list twice to make sure all who visit him have been good this year. Remember to bring a camera to capture those memorable moments with Santa!

Barrington’s Holiday Trolley will deliver you to fun events throughout the Village.  Beginning at 10:30 a.m., catch the trolley in the Village Center.  Next stop is the Ice House Mall for Winter Wonderland, followed by Gingerbread Lane on Lageschulte Street and the last stop is the Candy Cane Festival at the Foundry Shopping Center. The trolley will circle back to the Village Center and begin again!  Join the fun!
