If you love searching for ideas to inspire your garden and one-of-a-kind treasures for your home, there’s one event in Barrington that you do not want to miss and it’s coming up this Friday and Saturday, June 15 & 16.  Once a year, the owners of three outstanding Barrington estates open their properties to the public. Guests are invited to tour their remarkable gardens in a special 2-day event that helps poverty-stricken women and children in Sub-Saharan Africa.

12th Annual Barrington Country Garden & Antique Faire

It’s called the Barrington Country Garden & Antique Faire and it’s one of the coolest and most unique things to do in Barrington.

There are shuttle buses on the move during the entire 2-day event to transport you to the gardens for a little inspiration, antique shopping, lunch and leisure.

Garden and Horticultural Presentations

“The Mechanics of Organics” – Friday and Saturday, 11:00 AM
More and more people are interested in the health benefits of eating organic. Michelle D’Arcy of Horticultural Associates will share her expertise in growing great tasting, healthy, organic fruits and vegetables.

“Thinking Inside the Perennial Pot” – Friday and Saturday, 1:00 PM
Your favorite perennial container combinations can last from year to year. Joanne York, Sr. LA Associate of New Garden Landscape Co., will demonstrate how to design sun and shade-loving perennial container gardens for your patio/garden areas.

Complimentary shuttle departs every 15 minutes.

The Barrington Country Garden & Antique Faire is hosted by Hands of Hope, a non-profit organization created here in Barrington.  The founder is Barrington Resident, Vicky Wauterlek.  She was inspired to help women and children in Africa after an eye-opening trip to Nigeria in 1999.  This week’s Faire is their signature fundraising event.  All proceeds will fund projects like building wells and schools, providing loans for agricultural endeavors and making resources available to help women in Sub-Saharan Africa become economically self-sustaining.

Tickets are $50 each and include access to the tours, shopping, presentations and lunch. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 15th and Saturday, June 16th.
