Because we celebrated the 4th of July with guests at our home yesterday, I’m a day late in publishing our weekly mystery photo contest and revealing last week’s winner. But we have a new mystery photo for you today that might be a little tricky. Who can tell where in Barrington this photograph was taken?

If you know where we took the photo, just enter your guess in the comments box below. The rules are simple, the prize is delicious and I even have a clue for this week!

But first, it’s time to reveal last week’s mystery photo and announce our winner and his name is…

Congratulations, Bill! Your name was just drawn as the winner of last week’s contest. To view last week’s mystery photo and see all of our guesses, CLICK HERE, but here’s a more revealing look at the place where we found the plaque from last week’s photo.

As Bill guessed, I was standing in the Veterans Memorial in the center of downtown Barrington at the intersection of Main and Cook Streets.  The plaque was placed at the memorial on Flag Day, June 14, 2002 in honor of all veterans who have served to “preserve the freedom and equality of life under the flag of the United States of America”.

This is one of several commemorative plaques at the memorial.  It’s a beautiful and meaningful little corner of the world here in Barrington and the place of many memorial ceremonies throughout the year.

As the winner of this week’s contest, Bill will receive two tickets to the 8th annual Uncork Barrington wine tasting event in downtown Barrington this Friday night, July 6th, in the tent at the Metra station’s North Parking Lot.  In addition to tasting 50 wines from around the world, there will food from around the Barrington area to sample as well as live music and artists’ exhibits, which are new to Uncork this year.  I’ll be in touch this afternoon, Bill, to make arrangements to get you your prize.
