Starting this week, you’ll have fewer excuses to delay finishing those home improvement projects. ACE Hardware opens for business in Barrington at 8 a.m. this Tuesday, November 13. Longtime Barrington resident, John Brown, is opening Barrington’s new ACE Hardware where the Fisher Nuts store used to be on Northwest Highway. He recently purchased the property to bring a much needed hardware store to the area.
Brown says Barrington’s new ACE will make life easier for local homeowners, tradespeople working in the area and others with projects of all shapes and sizes. “This is a core hardware store. It will have everything someone expects from a hardware store.”
Barrington’s ACE Hardware will offer 27,000 items in seven major categories…
Those categories include paint, tools, plumbing, electrical, lawn and gardening. John has spent the past few weeks working with store merchandisers and his new staff to get the store ready for opening day.
Charlotte Panicle is one of many merchandisers who were stocking shelves at the new ACE last week. She says it’s going to be great. “It’s like a mini-Home Depot, but because it’s family-owned, you’re going to get better service.”
The Brown family moved to Barrington in 1989 and they live in Fox Point today. John Brown and his wife Noni, who is a Realtor in Barrington, have five children, a daughter and four boys. John, who recently retired from his job as an executive in the cosmetics industry, says you’ll likely see him working in the new ACE hardware store, along with one of his sons, who will have shifts there, too.
Many Barrington residents have missed having a local hardware store since the last one closed in 2008, where the Walgreens now stands on Northwest Highway today. And John says even he has missed the convenience of a home-town hardware store. “Time is important today, to everybody. At ACE in Barrington, you will be able to come in and find whatever you’re looking for in minutes as opposed to driving 20 or 30 minutes and getting into a big box store, which is a much bigger time commitment. Within minutes you can access the store, find what you’re looking for and be on your way.”
Barrington’s new ACE Hardware is located at 906 S. Northwest Highway. It will be open Monday through Friday from 8 am – 8 pm, Saturdays from 8 am – 5 pm and Sundays from 10 am – 4 pm.
