For her latest 365BarringtonTV report (see below) Catherine Goetze caught up with runners like Spencer Ruhlin who aced the race in lederhosen hand-made by his wife.

And the toothfairy in the pink tutu (and our neighbor Harry Wintringer) ran like lightening with his daughter, Hough Street School 4th grader Ellie by his side.

The Barrington Breakfast Rotary hosts this fun Halloween-themed race every year to promote physical fitness and health in a fun family atmosphere.  Catherine Goetze takes us straight to the race day action with her latest report filmed by BHS Junior Daniel Roth for 365BarringtonTV.

There were a lot of extra young runners who completed the Trick or Treat Trot 5K this year, thanks to the new Youth Fitness Plus sports program started by certified personal trainers and Barrington moms, Katie King and Suzy Gourdie.  Suzy sums up their mission by saying, “We’re really enthusiastic about running and fitness and health and we think it’s really important to teach kids at a young age to live active, healthy lifestyles.”

Youth Fitness Plus trains third through sixth graders to appreciate fitness and stay active with a focus on running and Katie says 17 of the kids in their “Supersonics Running Club” ran Saturday’s race.  “The Trick or Treat Trot is really well-run, family oriented and fun.  It’s a great first run for kids because it’s not too competitive.”
