We’re serving up this pop quiz with a side of answers in the form of market stats pulled directly from our local multiple listing service. Our first POP Quiz includes eight simple questions about the average sale price of detached single family homes in all seven of “The Barringtons”.  And we’re defining “The Barringtons” – not by school district or zip code – but as the seven villages included within the Barrington Area Council of Governments.  So here are your questions on our very first 365Barrington Real Estate POP Quiz:

Barrington: Average Home Sale Price

(Includes the Village of Barrington & surrounding neighborhoods)

In Barrington, the average sale price of single family (detached) homes as calculated by the previous 12 months of activity was $467,000 in August of 2014. That compares to $462,000 in August of 2013 and $427,000 in August of 2012.

There were 263 closed Barrington sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2014.  There were 259 closed Barrington sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2013 and there were 200 closed Barrington sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2012.


Barrington Hills: Average Home Sale Price

In Barrington Hills, the average sale price of single family (detached) homes as calculated by the previous 12 months of activity was $842,000 in August of 2014. That compares to $740,000 in August of 2013 and $918,000 in August of 2012.

There were 70 closed Barrington Hills sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2014.  There were 55 closed Barrington Hills sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2013 and there were 51 closed Barrington Hills sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2012.


Lake Barrington: Average Home Sale Price

In Lake Barrington, the average sale price of single family (detached) homes as calculated by the previous 12 months of activity was $500,000 in August of 2014. That compares to $488,000 in August of 2013 and $521,000 in August of 2012.

There were 29 closed Lake Barrington detached home sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2014.  There were 36 closed Lake Barrington detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2013 and there were 27 closed Lake Barrington detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2012.


North Barrington: Average Home Sale Price

In North Barrington, the average sale price of single family (detached) homes as calculated by the previous 12 months of activity was $724,000 in August of 2014. That compares to $568,000 in August of 2013 and $696,000 in August of 2012.

There were 47 closed North Barrington detached home sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2014.  There were 73 closed North Barrington detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2013 and there were 32 closed North Barrington detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2012.


South Barrington: Average Home Sale Price

In South Barrington, the average sale price of single family (detached) homes as calculated by the previous 12 months of activity was $908,000 in August of 2014. That compares to $928,000 in August of 2013 and $767,000 in August of 2012.

There were 59 closed South Barrington detached home sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2014.  There were 66 closed South Barrington detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2013 and there were 65 closed South Barrington detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2012.


Tower Lakes: Average Home Sale Price

In Tower Lakes, the average sale price of single family (detached) homes as calculated by the previous 12 months of activity was $470,000 in August of 2014. That compares to $307,000 in August of 2013 and $404,000 in August of 2012.

There were 8 closed Tower Lakes detached home sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2014.  There were 14 closed Tower Lakes detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2013 and there were 13 closed Tower Lakes detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2012.


Deer Park: Average Home Sale Price

In Deer Park, the average sale price of single family (detached) homes as calculated by the previous 12 months of activity was $516,000 in August of 2014. That compares to $480,000 in August of 2013 and $505,000 in August of 2012.

There were 50 closed Deer Park detached home sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2014.  There were 45 closed Deer Park detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2013 and there were 24 closed Deer Park detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2012.


All “Barringtons”: Average Home Sale Price

In all of “The Barringtons” including unincorporated and township areas not contained within the villages above, the average sale price of single family (detached) homes as calculated by the previous 12 months of activity was $581,000 in August of 2014. That compares to $540,000 in August of 2013 and $563,000 in August of 2012.

There were 550 closed 60010 detached home sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2014.  There were 578 closed 60010 detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2013 and there were 440 closed 60010 detached sales in the 12 month period through the end of August, 2012.


In summary, at $908,000, South Barrington currently has the highest average home sale price for detached single family homes.  That’s followed by Barrington Hills with an average detached single family home sale price $842,000 and North Barrington with an average detached single family home sale price at $724,000.
