We introduced the new Barrington Style series with 365Barrington.com last week sharing some of our favorite fall clothing items, but we can not forget about our must-have accessories! Accessories are often just as important as the clothes themselves. Whether it’s a great statement necklace or a printed scarf, accessories have the ability to complete or transform an outfit.
Accessories are an easy and affordable way to transition staple clothing items from season to season. We also love how accessories can easily make the same outfit feel completely different. A multi-colored floral scarf can make a simple outfit look trendy…
…and a chunky chain necklace can make a classic look more edgy.
When making a statement with the rest of your jewelry, keep your earrings more classic and simple, but a dangle earring can sometimes be the only piece you need to finish off your look.
This Fall, it is not only about the statement pieces, but also timeless and delicate accessories. But sometimes less isn’t more! Layering and stacking these simple accessories is another trend that we love this Fall. Whether it’s a few delicate necklaces or several bracelets, a statement doesn’t have to be made by one single item.
Our advice this season: Don’t be afraid to accessorize. It not only completes your look, but makes a style all your own.
Along with last Monday’s first Barrington Style post about our 4 Must-Have Pieces for Fall, we debuted a new weekly contest with a $25 LUXE wearhouse prize on the line, inviting readers to share their personal style questions. We promised to follow up with answers and several of you took advantage of the opportunity to ask away. Here are a few of your fashion questions from this week, along with our replies.
What are the “in” colors for fall? – Karen Spinelli
The great thing about this fall is that there are so many on-trend color choices. You really can’t go wrong with color this fall! We are seeing everything from army green to pastels to jewel tones and neutrals. The fall colors we are loving at LUXE are navy, shades of burgundy and grey. Whether it’s a solid, color block or printed piece we can’t get enough of these colors. Of course, we always love our neutrals and you can’t go wrong with them! You can incorporate these new fall colors easily with your accessories such as a scarf, statement necklace or handbag.
How do you make the shift dress flatter taller girls without making it look like a dress? – Emma Kreutzmann
What we love about the shift dress is that it is flattering on so many body types, short and tall. If you are on taller side and feel like your shift dress is a little short just layer it with a great legging. Avoid wearing a heel as it can make dresses appear shorter. We love a shift dress with a great ballet flat or boot.
If wearing a knit dress, and it’s warm, non leggings then? – Stephanie Hoffman
Leggings are a great way to transition our spring/summer dresses into more fall temperature appropriate outfits but they are not required. Most people just add the leggings for warmth or to make a dress more functional/work friendly. When the weather permits we love a knit dress with bare legs and a great pair of shoes.
We’ll also be hosting a regular Barrington Style contest on Monday each week at 365Barrington.com, with prizes from LUXE wearhouse on the line! This week, LUXE will be giving away another $25 gift certificate. We just drew the name of our winner from this past week’s contest. And the winner is…
Congratulations, Annette, and thank you for entering. We’ll be in touch about getting you your prize.
LUXE will be giving away another $25 gift card for those who enter the contest between now and next week. We’ll reveal the new winner when we share our latest Barrington Style post next Monday. For a chance to win, enter your name and email address in the form below and, if you have a fashion question, feel free to ask away and stay tuned for an answer straight from LUXE wearhouse style aficionados!
