The Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble’s 2014 performance of The Nutcracker opens for it’s 20th season Friday, December 19th, and they’re excited to present something brand new for this weekend’s performances.  The show’s sets were completely redesigned for this year’s production thanks to a generous grant from the Barrington Area Community Foundation.

The previous sets were about 12 years old and we’re told the new sets, designed by Jim Estes and built by John Tilford, showcase the scenes and dancers beautifully.

Guest artists from National and Chicago regional dance companies, including River North Dance Chicago, Giordano Dance Chicago, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago are perform lead soloist roles during this weekend’s performances, joined by more than 80 student dancers from the Northwest Chicago suburbs.

The Nutcracker will run from December 19-21, 2014 at Barrington High School, 616 West Main Street in Barrington, Illinois. Ticket prices range from $15.00 to $28.00. You can click here to purchase tickets online or they will also be available at the door.

Also, don’t miss Clara’s Tea at 12:30 before Saturday’s matinee performance. It’s the perfect holiday event for children age 3 to 10 and their families to meet some of the characters and learn more about the Nutcracker story before watching the show. The price of admission for Clara’s Tea is $10 per child.
