Great news just in from Barrington Children’s Charities!  Their fifth annual Kentucky Derby Party raised $50,000 to support initiatives that address the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of children in the Barrington area.

The weather was beautiful for the early May event which was held at The Anvil Club this year.  Barrington Children’s Charities (BCC) spokesperson, Kirsten Baseley says the venue was picture perfect for this highly anticipated event.  “The Anvil Club was phenomenal!  The food and service exceeded our expectations and the valet parking was exceptional.  They were incredible and really did a great job!”

In addition to offering the venue, The Anvil Club discounted their membership for Barrington Children’s Charities supporters during the month of May, giving a portion back to the organization.  That offer is still available for those who attended the event.  CLICK HERE to sign up for their $150 membership special that includes a $50 donation to Barrington Children’s Charities.

Kirsten says the timing of the Derby Party also adds to its success every year.  “I think because it’s the first event when the weather starts to warm up and everybody is so excited to break out their sleeveless dresses, seersucker suits, bright and colorful flowered hats and it’s a really nice way to kick off spring before Mother’s Day and other seasonal activities start to happen.”

Among many initiatives, Barrington Children’s Charities supports local efforts for Blessings in a Backpack, a program that provides food on the weekends for elementary school students who might otherwise go hungry.  Kirsten says the popularity of Barrington Children’s Charities’ Derby Party speaks volumes about the community’s desire to help.

“We tend to disperse a pretty significant amount of money each year and the fact that people are coming to our fundraisers shows that they’re aware of how much the organization impacts children in our community who are in need.”

If you missed this month’s Derby Party, Barrington Children’s Charities’ next big event, their 2015 Holly Ball, is coming up on Saturday, December 12th.

Barrington Children’s Charities is a not-for-profit charitable organization of dedicated men and women working together to positively impact the lives of children. Run entirely by volunteers, BCC donates monies raised to support and address the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of children of the Barrington 220 school district area and chooses its beneficiaries based on need.
