Our “commuter correspondents” (my husband, Bill, and my friend, Lisa) were on the job early this morning, photographing the sea of Chicago Blackhawks fans who hopped on the Metra at Barrington’s train station heading downtown for the Hawks Stanley Cup victory parade and rally.
My friend Lisa says seats were hard to come by and there was “no quiet car on the train” due to all the Hawks fans headed down to the parade. “I just jumped on an extra train that is making all stops (boo). Nothing is running normal schedule – I jumped off the 7:11 cuz there were no seats!”
Based on Lisa’s observations, many of the Hawks fans were ticketless, but still heading down for the show of support. “It doesn’t seem any of these people actually have tickets to the rally – nice effort though, Chicago.”
My husband Bill was totally on top of the Hawks beat this morning.
He called me a “demanding editor”, but had these Hawk fan photos to share.
Bill was even working the iPhone cam on his trip down the escalator at Ogilvie Transportation Center on the way to his “real job”. Well done, Bill! Keep up the good work and I might give you a raise ;).
The Hawks parade begins at 10 a.m. this morning at the corner of Washington and Racine streets and ends at Monroe and Michigan in Chicago. Tickets to the following rally at Soldier Field sold out fast, but I hear they’re going to be broadcasting the rally on big screens for fans outside the stadium. Wish we could be there for for the celebration. Congratulations, Blackhawks!
