For our weekly menu feature, we have piping hot plates of North Atlantic Cod on the mind with Fitzgerald’s bringing their Famous Fish Boil to Citizens Park on Friday night! Fitzgerald’s Genoa City Junction will be preparing their all-you-can-eat Door County Fish Boil and BBQ Chicken Feast on September 4th at a community party in the park hosted by The Barrington Area Council on Aging, Lake Barrington Woods and the Barrington Park District.
Barrington Area Council on Aging Executive Director Joyce Palmquist says they’re planning the fish boil for all ages to bring families together as we say goodbye to the summer season. “We just thought it would be a fun way to celebrate the summer, welcome the fall and mark the start of school with a family activity that would be fun for all generations,” Joyce says. “It’s also an opportunity to ‘get away’ for a unique dining experience without leaving Barrington.”
Friday’s feast will include boneless North Atlantic Cod, boiled red potatoes and onions, coleslaw, BBQ chicken, fresh salted rye bread and a frosted apple square for dessert. There will also be free popcorn, cotton candy and balloons! We’ll know it’s time to eat when the kettle erupts into a fiery spectacle known as the “boil over.” The end result is said to be nothing short of delicious!
Check-in is at 4:00pm; dinner is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Entertainment will last from 5:30 to 6:30 featuring The Johnny Gray Show and “The Musical Magic of Your Favorites.” There’s no take-outs, but you won’t want to miss this fun family fish boil right here in Barrington!
