This year’s activities include scarecrow building, pumpkin painting, pony rides, arts & crafts, balloon animals, face painting, cookie decorating, inflatable games, children’s games and so much more. Bob the DJ will be on hand to delight the crowd with his special costume and favorite spooky songs. Can’t wait to see who Bob comes dressed as this year. He’s a character who really gets into character!  (You’ll see what I mean ;).

Materials to build scarecrows will be provided. All you have to do is bring clothing and accessories to personalize your creations.

Also this month, don’t forget to vote for your favorite scarecrow in the Village of Barrington’s annual Scarecrow design contest. They’ve been popping up outside businesses and schools all over town and over 80 merchants put a lot of work and thought into their fun, original creations. Residents and visitors are invited to vote for their favorite scarecrows through October 31st.

To vote for your favorite scarecrows, click here to go to the Village’s web site at Barrington-IL.gov where photos of all of the scarecrows are posted. Click on the photo of your favorite scarecrow, hit “send”, and a vote will automatically be cast. Or visit the Village Facebook page and “Like” your favorite scarecrows.

We’ve created a gallery below of the scarecrows in this year’s contest. You can vote for as many scarecrows as you’d like, but only one vote per email address per scarecrow will count. Online voting will continue until Saturday October 31, ending on Halloween. Winners will be announced on the Village web site on Monday, November 2nd. Happy voting.  And may the best scarecrow win!
