Despite the icy, messy morning, Smart Farm’s 7th annual 5K Frozen Zucchini Snowshoe Adventure at Citizens Park drew runners ready to brave the elements to benefit Smart Farm of Barrington. Since 2008, Smart Farm volunteers have been tending community gardens in Barrington to encourage sustainable practices and grow food to give to local food pantries.

Sponsors like Heinen’s Grocery, Erehwon, Merrell Shoes and WSHE 100.3 came out to support the event. The founders of Barrington’s new non-profit, Mindful Waste also pitched in to help make this year’s run a zero-waste event.
