The kids are back in school – OH YEAH! We had a great break, but boy was it long, wasn’t it? It feels good to be back to work and sharing today’s NoonDaily Update featuring snapshots taken by community photographers at home, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital and at historic locations around Barrington.

3. The American Home | The Hawley House (1860) in Barrington, IL is one of the only remaining octagon structures in Cook County. Entirely wood-framed and covered with clapboards, the home’s most notable features are the intricately carved and jig-sawed brackets supporting the roof of the porch enclosing the house and similarly detailed screens that cover the foundation from view. Structural members of the house are fastened by hand-forged (not machined) flat nails and glue. It is no longer a residence but at least this unique style of architecture is still with us. #octagonhouse #oldhouselove…
