Uncork Barrington is sponsored by the Barrington Village Association, a Village of Barrington homeowners group working to bring neighbors together by hosting events like the weekly Barrington Farmers Market and this weekend’s Uncork Barrington.  Uncork takes place in the tent pavilion at Metra’s North Commuter Parking Lot in downtown Barrington.  Tickets cost $50 each and you must be 21 to enter.

Guests at Uncork Barrington receive a wine passport and a complimentary glass when they arrive.

That passport is their ticket to sampling up to 48 wines from eight wine regions.

Association Chair, Doug Skor, says they’ve made changes to the wine list this year based on feedback from guests.

“What we found is that, when people purchase wines at the event, they’re not buying as many of the French wines and Italian wines.

They’re buying more of the California and Northwest region wines so we’re adding more wines from Washington and Oregon this year and focusing more on wines from those regions.”

Also new at this year’s Uncork event will be professional sommeliers stationed at the tasting tables for each wine region.

There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres available for tasting with your wines from 10 restaurants and caterers including Francesca’s, Zaza’s Tavola Italiana, Wild Asparagus & On Occasion Catering, Cooper’s Pizza, Kookers Burgers, Gianni’s Cafe, Starbucks and Heinen’s Fine Foods.

And, for this year’s musical entertainment, Felix & Fingers dueling pianos and jazz duo will take the stage at 6 p.m. and play through the end of the event.

The Barrington Village Association will donate all proceeds from this year’s event to 14 local non-profit organizations including the Barrington Area Council on Aging, United Way, Barrington Breakfast Rotary.
