Great Backyard Bird Count

February 19 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$5

Children and adults can spend a few hours as citizen scientists at Citizens for Conservation’s  fifth annual Great Backyard Bird Count. CFC will use a local conservation easement property as a venue for both indoor and outdoor viewing. CFC restoration director Tom Vanderpoel will help identify birds and give an overview of techniques to attract birds to backyards. After the bird count, participants can make their own nest supply boxes to encourage returning birds to build nests in their backyards.

The bird count is sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society and collects bird data from all over the world during a designated four-day period every February.

Bring binoculars if you have them; CFC will also have some available to use. Dress for the weather since some of the activities will be outdoors. Registration deadline is Friday, February 17; register at http://www.citizensforconservation.org or call 847-382-SAVE (7283) for more information.
