St. Michael’s Little Angels Christian Preschool celebrated National Week of the Young Child™ on April 11-15. As part of the National Week of the Young Child, celebrated across the country, Little Angels Preschool honored young children and all those who make a difference in their lives.

Barrington Village President, Karen Darch, along with Barrington Youth Football’s Howard Hansen were just two of the community leaders who were invited to speak and read to the children each day during the week. Other special events during the week included making “survival kits” for the Barrington Police and Firemen and opportunities to participate in gymnastics with Kids in Action (KIAGA). The celebrations ended with a local “Hero Parade” and a family event with pizza and a performance by the “Bubble Man.”

Caren Hunter, Director of Little Angels Preschool, said of the week, “All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and we have a great opportunity here in Barrington to do our part to help young children. Week of the Young Child™ is a time for Barrington to recognize that early years are learning years for all young children.”

Week of the Young Child™, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country to bring awareness to the needs of young children.

Located at 647 Dundee Avenue in Barrington, Little Angels Christian Preschool is a ministry of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. A NAEYC accredited program, Little Angels provides preschool classes for toddlers, 2, 3 & 4-year-olds. Their classrooms are designed to offer an environment for children to make choices, explore freely and learn through play. For more information, visit LittleAngelsPreschool.org.
