A beautiful day and a brand new venue brought record attendance to Barrington Children’s Charities’ sixth annual Kentucky Derby Party, which raised over $65,000 to support kids in the Barrington area. More than 230 guests attended this “Derby Party Like No Other”, where colorful hats were spotted at every turn on the rooftop terrace at Shakou Sushi, which is celebrating its first spring season on Barrington’s Main Street.

Festive and fun activities make BCC’s Derby Party an affair to remember each year, including a 50/50 raffle, best-dressed awards, Kentucky Derby broadcast, live music, and uniquely delicious food and drinks. There was also a photo-cam Smile Booth at this year’s event where guests could post online their own favorite Derby Party photo for a chance to win a Shakou prize.

Barrington Children Charities Vice President Kirsten Baseley says Shakou offered a beautiful setting for this year’s highly anticipated event. “We are truly excited to be here with the Barrington community enjoying the Derby Party for this great cause and Shakou is a unique and wonderful venue.”

All Derby Party proceeds will help Barrington Children’s Charities address the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of children within the Barrington 220 school district. Founded by Tom and Darby Hills, the organization aims to heighten public awareness about and raise monies for a wide variety of projects benefiting local children.
