Ruben’s Recipe – Treat the Team & Guests Like Family
After 15 years working with Egg Harbor Café, Reuben has earned a reputation for embracing challenges, keeping everyone together when the restaurant gets extremely busy and cooking for guests as he would for his own family.
“At the end of the day I feel tired but I’m happy,” Ruben says. “Egg Harbor Café is my other home and the people here are my other family. I love what I do.”
Egg Harbor Café Barrington manager, Taki Mullins says Ruben puts extraordinary care and passion into each plate for every guest.
“On our busiest days the kitchen can be very intense with a lot of pressure. Our standards are extremely high because we want to make sure we’re meeting guests’ expectations,” Taki says. “The job Ruben does in the kitchen to hold the rest of the team up to those same standards is incredible.”
When Ruben’s not at Egg Harbor Café, you’ll find him spending time with his children or playing instruments in his band. He plays guitar, tuba, trombone, trumpet and piano and says it also takes a team to make great music!
