Join Dr. Bridget C. Coughlin, President and CEO of Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium, for a deep dive into the ways the aquarium is making an impact on the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. As one of the country’s oldest aquariums with over 2 million visitors annually, this world-famous institution is poised to make significant contributions to animal life in rivers and lakes in our area and beyond.

Dr. Coughlin was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Shedd Aquarium in 2016. Under her leadership, Shedd has welcomed nearly 10 million aquarium guests, diverted over 21,000 pounds of plastic from lakes and rivers, and published more than 100 research papers. A nature lover and scientist both at heart and by training, Dr. Coughlin is passionate about animal life in oceans, rivers and lakes. Her commitment to Shedd’s mission of sparking compassion, curiosity and conservation for the aquatic animal world extends well beyond the walls of Shedd Aquarium. Free wine and beer offered.

Completely restored in 2015 to mark the Village of Barrington’s Sesquicentennial celebration, Barrington’s White House at 145 W. Main Street is now a community and cultural center featuring regular performances and events.
