Today’s is a classic by Chubby Checker who went back to No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘The Twist’ on January 13, 1962. The song first went to No.1 in Sept 1960 and became the only record in American chart history to top the charts on two separate occasions.

Reminder that Joyce’s Driving School is offering a Road Test service. If you have had your permit for 9 months and have a driving log with a minimum of 50 hours, you are eligible to sign up for a Road Test with us. You can take the test with us a few weeks before you turn 16 and still go to the Secretary of State’s office for your license on your 16th birthday.

I call this space THE LANDING as our kiddos are flying through here 🤣 and land on their butts half the time.
It’s a space between the living room and the kitchen, that previously was not utilized at all.
Our couches where exactly where they are now but rather than an island there was an open, blah space!
When we bought the house TV cabinet was where the fridge is now, and entry doors where right by the oven!
Let’s just say we rearranged it a bit 😉 I feel that we did good utilizing the space and we made it even more open.

Side note: the step! Our hone has like 4 different levels as people before us didn’t do a great job “doing the right thing” so as you can see there is about 3” step up from dining room area into the living kitchen! Our kids know exactly where it is and when they run they know to hop up. it’s pretty funny 😆

A crowd pleaser from our pastry showcase...our mice eclairs! They are choux pastry, filled with our homemade vanilla bean pastry cream, dipped in a milk chocolate with toasted almonds (for the ears!)

Hi guys! Today we'll be checking out some star-crossed lovers! 💔
No, **not** Romeo and Juliet! I mean first of all, the story of 牛郎织女 -- niú láng zhī nv -- dates back to at least the Jin Dynasty -- 250-420 AD 😱. Take that, Shakespeare! Also, Romeo and Juliet may be tragically "star-crossed," but, as the story goes, Niu Lang and Zhi Nu literally *are* stars -- on opposite ends of the Milky Way 😦.
Let's rewind. Zhi Nu is the youngest daughter of the Queen Mother of the West and the Jade Emperor (Hey -- we know who those people are! 😁).
Meanwhile, Niu Lang was a poor. sad, unloved cowherd. As many versions of the story go, though, the cow was magical -- which is never a bad thing 😂. The cow led Niu Lang to steal the clothes of a girl bathing with her sisters in a river.
As questionable as a method as that may seem, it worked! Zhi Nu and Niu Lang were married and had children ❤️.
But there's always a but. And this story's "but" is that the Queen Mother was not happy with this union. Niu Lang had a magical coat (that's another story), and when the Queen Mother tried to separate them, he flew up to try to join Zhi Nu in the heavens.
Unfortunately, the Queen Mother wasn't having it, and she separated the two with a river in the sky, only allowing them to meet on the 7th day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar -- "Chinese Valentine's Day."
