Barrington Area Volunteer Connection Recognized for Volunteerism Impact!

At the Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting recently, the Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC) received a Community Partner Award in recognition of the impact BAVC has had on raising awareness for nonprofit services and expanding volunteerism in the Barrington Area.

This award reflects the dedication of BAVC’s advisory board members and collaborators who have supported us over the last 5 years with their time and energy.” commented Kate Soldan, BAVC Advisory Board Member.

BAVC is the only organization locally that focuses on nonprofits that impact the greater Barrington Area and helps connect our local residents to those organizations. Additionally, our Advisory Board is available to help guide nonprofits on best practices and assist volunteers in finding opportunities that match their interests.

Gigi’s Playhouse – Tutors & Gala Volunteers!

GiGi’s Playhouse offers more than 30 therapeutic and educational programs that advance literacy, math skills, motor skills and more for those with a Down’s Syndrome diagnosis; all of which are free of charge. Programs are created by professional therapists and teachers who donate their time and expertise. All programs are based on best practices for learning styles specific to Down syndrome, and customized to ensure individual success. Serves infants through adults, GiGi’s Playhouse makes a difference every day!

Mane In Heaven – New Volunteer Info Session Coming Up!

Mane in Heaven is a all volunteer nonprofit that provides assisted therapy visits with their mini-horses. They have fun & easy opportunities for volunteering !

Volunteers needed to assist with grooming, training, attending visits with the mini horses and to help with Hope Boxes, and Mini Mail. Mane in Heaven is also looking for people who can help with social media, picture taking, and marketing, grant writing.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – Board Member Needed!

NAMI’s mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and their families affected by mental illness through support, education, and advocacy.

NAMI influences state and national public policy for people with mental illness and their families. NAMI’s legislative and public policy priority is to support Americans affected by mental illness’ opportunities to build better lives.

NAMI is looking for a lawyer who can advise their board on legal issues concerning mental illness issues.
