Still Time to Participate in National Volunteer Month – April, 2026!

Barrington Area Volunteer Connection’s Volunteer Live Event a couple weeks ago was a success with over 20 nonprofits present and approximately 100 residents attending. Attendees learned about local resources and the nonprofits were able to gain volunteers as well as raise awareness for how they help the Barrington Area.

It’s not over yet – BAVC is only halfway through National Volunteer Month and there are still many ways for you to make an impact. Volunteers are the core of many nonprofits and needed to help support programming so please know that your time will be valued and appreciated!

First, make sure you have an account on Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (thebavc.org). Its simple and takes only 5 minutes, then log on and find a volunteer opportunity that matches your interests and skills.

Barrington Rotary & Go Green Collaboration – Highway Cleanup
Sunday, April 26, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Help keep Barrington beautiful. Its a great opportunity for teenagers to get some required hours as well as families! Volunteers must be in 8th grade or older and able to traverse uneven ground. Meet at MaKray Golf Course Parking Lot, 1010 S. Northwest Hwy. Wear clothes suitable to the weather and gloves if possible. Safety vests and bags will be provided.

Citizens for Conservation (CF) – Plant Days

Celebrating their 30th sale, this is one of the largest native plant sales and relies on the help of volunteers to make it a success! Many different roles and shifts available, starting from April 29th thru May 4th. Sign up as an individual or a team!

WINGS – Volunteers Needed – Mother’s Day 5 K on May 10th
Spend time with your Mom and also help a valuable organization that supports women and children!

This annual run will be held on May 10th and begins in Barrington. Multiple volunteer spots available to help with pre and post race set up and assisting the runners during the day. Wings also has spots available for help in their in resale shops and as logistics sorters. Proceeds from the event and resale shop go toward helping the participants and programs at WINGS.

Let It Be Us – Barrington Tag Days (Planned for May)

Let It Be Us is launching their first Barrington Tag Days – a new, community-powered fundraiser in support of children in foster care, including those waiting for adoption!

They are looking for 5 volunteers to lead a committee to bring this event to life – from concept to execution to impact. Join Let It Be Us in building what will become a signature annual event for Barrington – and a powerful force for children who need support the most. This will be a community wide event that will bring everyone together in a way that is safe, joyful and engaging!
