Barrington High School’s Class of 2016 is excited to begin a new chapter after Friday’s commencement ceremony at Willow Creek Community Church. The graduates of this year’s class  were honored for so many remarkable achievements and our crew was there to create a film capturing the excitement of graduation day.

In his commencement address, BHS Principal Steve McWilliams highlighted achievements of this year’s graduating class in academics, the arts, athletics and volunteerism.  4 students in this year’s graduating class earned a perfect 36 on their ACT, for example. 2 were named Golden Apple Scholars. 213 of this year’s graduates are Illinois State Scholars. 25 are National Merit Commended students and here’s where many of them are headed to college…

Top 10 post-secondary destinations are:
Harper College * University of Ilinois * Indiana University * Loyola University * Illinois State University * University of Iowa * University of Wisconsin * University of Arizona * Michigan State * DePaul University

Highly selective schools BHS 2016 grads will attend this fall include:
Stanford * Harvard * Vanderbilt * Dartmouth * Emory * Cornell * University of Chicago * Notre Dame * Northwestern * Washington University * University of Southern California

We at 365Barrington.com are so proud of all of this year’s graduates, but we’ll miss several of them in particular. Gus Goetze, Tommy Derken and Jack Coombs (all of BHS-TV fame) have made us proud as regular reporters/video producers/photographers here at 365Barrington.com for the past few years. Alex Gaul caught up with Tommy and Gus, along with many graduates who share their memories of BHS and future plans for this year’s graduation day report. Enjoy! And congratulations, Class of 2016…
