The Veterans of Lake Barrington Shores were the guests of honor during a special flag raising ceremony outside North Barrington Elementary School this morning where students took time out to thank those who have served our country this Veteran’s Day.

Girl and Boy Scouts were on hand to help raise the flag in what parents in attendance say was a “lovely ceremony”.

“The children witnessed a great experience with smiles on their faces seeing the Veterans raising the American flag that symbolizes the freedom of our great country,” according to mother-of-two, Erin Turza. “Today we honor our Veterans that serve and protect our wonderful country. Thank you all for your service.”

Founded in 2004, The Veterans of Lake Barrington Shores mission is to foster patriotism, love of our nation’s flag and to promote appreciation of our Country, US Veterans, their spouses and children. Further, to maintain in perpetuity, a Memorial Garden located within the Lake Barrington Shores grounds to honor all veterans that have served in the United States Armed Forces.
