One of the most anticipated fall events in Barrington is fast approaching. Come and celebrate autumn’s arrival at the Art in the Barn fall festival coming up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, September 23rd and 24th. Enjoy the art of more than 175 artists along with live music, children’s activities, food & drink on the grounds of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.
In its 43rd year, Art in the Barn brings fine art to Barrington, providing an ideal gathering place for a weekend of art, entertainment, food and fun for the entire family. The art is featured in historic barns that were once used as food testing sites when the hospital property was previously owned by Quaker Oats.
Art in the Barn is one of the major fund-raisers sponsored by the Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Hospital, which has donated millions of dollars to the hospital over the years. Artists donate a portion of their sales to the cause and money raised funds various hospital programs and improvements. The fall art festival began in 1974 when a group of ten women and local artists came up with the idea to help raise money to build the hospital here in Barrington. It started as a show with 30 artists and has grown to over 170 artists displaying their works for sale with over 5,000 visitors expected to attend over the two day event.
This year, you’ll find art on display in all mediums including Oil, Watercolor, Pastel, Drawing, Acrylics, Fiber, Glass, Photography, Digital Media, Jewelry, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture, Scratchboard, Wood, and Mixed Media.
Admission to the event is $5 at the door, children under 12 are free (no pets, please).
