Local schools, businesses & organizations have been busy decorating scarecrows for weeks in the Village of Barrington’s 2018 Scarecrow Decorating Contest. Dozens of scarecrows are in the running for the top prize and voting is underway now.

This year, you’ll find some designs with a specific message like Egg Harbor Café’s call to “Save the Bees”, a reminder that their dishes incorporate locally sourced ingredients, including honey. Manager Taki Mullins says the beekeeper’s name is Eyeball, the scarecrow is Arthur and, this year, they’re in it to win it!

Others got creative with pumpkins and paint like the fifth graders at Roslyn Road Elementary School who created a Minion Masterpiece!

The scarecrows are up all over town so look around and choose your favorite. Everyone in the community has a chance to vote on the winner. The winning entry will be recognized by the Village Board at their November meeting.

To vote for your favorite scarecrow in town, click here or go to Barrington-IL.gov/scarecrow and cast your vote by October 31st.
