Heinen’s Grocery is kicking off the new year with a contest celebrating local roots and local food sold at Heinen’s Chicagoland stores. It’s called The Loving Local Awards and all who enter have a chance to win a $500 Heinen’s gift card! To enter, simply nominate your favorite product produced in Illinois and sold at Heinen’s by Tuesday, January 28th. There are two nomination boxes set up at Heinen’s Barrington – one by the Demo Station and one by the Wellness Department.
Need help knowing what foods are up for nominating? Look for the “Made In Illinois” labels on shelves in every aisle because, if you know Heinen’s, you know that their local roots run deep. Since Heinen’s beginning in 1929, they’ve always carried local products but they’re constantly adding new ones to the mix. Walk the aisles of Heinen’s stores and you’ll find an endless assortment of local products — from fresh produce to ice cream to handmade pasta, sauces and more! Heinen’s is proud to partner with more than 150 local growers whose fresh fruits and veggies account for 60-70% of the produce sold in the summer season. Today, Heinen’s also carries nearly 700 locally-made, non-produce items that are present in all of the store’s departments.
The Loving Local Awards celebrate Heinen’s longtime commitment to building relationships with local brands. They can’t wait to see what their customers pick!
To enter the contest, simply visit Heinen’s Chicagoland stores in Barrington, Glenview, Lake Bluff & Bannockburn. Nominate your favorite product made in Illinois and sold at Heinen’s (excluding alcohol) by January 28th*. Customers who nominate their favorite local product will be entered to win a $500 Heinen’s gift card. *The nominated item must be carried at Heinen’s Grocery.
Once they identify their Top 4 contenders, all Chicago stores will host a Tasting & Voting Event. The event will take place on: Friday 2/7 from 4pm – 7pm, Saturday 2/8 and Sunday 2/9 from 11am – 3pm. Customers will be able to taste and sample the 4 items and vote for their favorite to be crowned Heinen’s 2020 Chicago Loving Local Awards Winner.
