We have $100 in Heinen’s gift cards to give to FOUR WINNERS ($25 each) in Thursday’s photo contest! Congratulations to all who took our SCIENCE FUN challenge. Gift cards coming by mail. đ
Today’s challenge is PEOPLE & PETS. Submit a photo of someone you enjoyed spending time with during our first week of distance learning at home. If you feel like getting creative, make a costume for them from found items around the house. Cut out eyes on a paper bag and draw a face. Anything goes. To enter, see below or Click here!
Here’s a look at our SCIENCE CHALLENGE winners. Thanks for the ideas, everyone! You’ve given us a few new things to try at home this weekend…
Hopwood Family
We built a UV projector that worked with a black light and film reels the kids created with highlighters. We all worked together. Hereâs what the kids had to say – âItâs really fun because itâs like a real movie that we made!â and âI like how it lights up with glow!â We learned how different animals use UV light in their ability to see. âReindeer are the only mammals who can see UV light. They find lichen with it.â
Rudzinski Family
“Professor”Adrian Rudzinski (4th grader at Grove) with his “Assistant” Eva made Elephant Toothpaste Experiment today. As you can see did not go as should (hydroperoxide wasn’t strong enough) but we had some much needed fun. H2O2 10% , dish soap , food coloring, warm water and active yeast. In this time of not being able to get 10% H2O2 we were lucky to get 3%. We got beautiful and colorful bubbles and spent time learning some chemistry and team effort.
Leider Family
Classic for a reason- baking soda and vinegar eruptions are always fun!
Nelson Family
We did two chemistry experiments from a subscription we have to MEL Science Kits. One was called “Igniting Iron” and the other was “Fire Foam”, where you ignite hydrogen soap bubbles. Lots of fun!
Contest winners will receive a gift card from Heinen’s Grocery, which we will be sending by mail. All are welcome to enter today’s contest, PEOPLE & PETS, where you snap a photo of those you most enjoyed spending time with during our first distance learning week with the Barrington 220 School District. Want to  Thank you for playing along!
Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to everyone who entered! There’s one more chance to win this week. Here’s your final challenge…
- Friday: PEOPLE & PETS
Think back to all of the favorite things you found to do at home this week and all of the photos you’ve captured. Is there someone who you loved spending a little extra time with? Did your mom, dad, brother, sister or pet make you smile this week? Snap a photo of that person, people or pet and send it it for a chance to win. If they don’t want their picture taken? Feel free to make them a mask or costume from things you have around the house and take their picture in disguise. Raid the dress-up chest, pull out pieces from past Halloween costumes. Have fun because anything goes and thanks for sharing!
Entering the contest is easy. Simply Upload your photo and caption via our contest entry form and we’ll ask guest judges to help us choose the daily winner (or we may decide to pick our winner at random). We’ll share the photos, announce the winner plus reveal our new theme at the start of the next day. Click here or simply submit your entry with this form…
