On this day, January 26th in 1957, Eddie Van Halen, Dutch-American guitarist with Van Halen who had the 1984 US No.1 & UK No. 7 single ‘Jump‘ was born. Jump was released in December of 1983 as the lead single from Van Halen’s album 1984. It is the group’s most successful single, reaching number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Van Halen also played the guitar solo on Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’. Van Halen died on October 6th, 2020 at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer. Van Halen has sold more than 80 million worldwide, making them one of the best-selling groups of all time.
