Guess Where Wednesday & Last Week’s Winner | X Marks the Spot

It’s Guess Where Wednesday and we have a new mystery photo for you! I snapped this one last Sunday on Pokemon raid with my 11-year-old. That’s clue number one for those of you with Pokemon players because apparently the little gremlins love this particular place in Barrington. It’s a place where families frequent but the 365Barrington team says this one is tricky. I definitely had them stumped. Can you guess where in Barrington I took this week’s Mystery Photo?

Our main clue is simply this… “X Marks the Spot”

If you know the answer, enter your guess in the contest entry form below for a chance to win this week’s prize which is also a mystery. We love to keep you guessing ;).

Now for our last mystery photo contest winner… We snapped this image at a popular Barrington destination that you’ve probably driven past a million times. We ran the photo through an iPhone app to make the colors pop and this one was a challenge. Only three people submitted guesses!

We threw the names of all correct guessers in a hat and pulled out the winner. And her name is… Mandy Lowe! I just caught up with Mandy by phone and she and her family are new to Barrington. They moved here not long ago from Memphis (Welcome!) and we are impressed with their local detective skills! Mandy says it was her 11-year old daughter who guessed that the mystery photo is a picture from the mural on the facade of McGonigal’s Pub on Cook Street. The Lowe family will receive a gift card from Bryan McGonigal, owner of McGonigal’s. Thanks, Bryan and thanks Lowe family for entering our contest!

Now back to this week’s mystery photo. If you know where the photo was taken and submit a correct answer using the form below, you’ll be in the running to win our latest prize when we reveal the mystery location and our new winner next Wednesday. We have a great prize on the line and the rules are simple!

Here’s how the contest works:

  • Submit guesses about where today’s mystery photo was taken in the form below
  • You have until the end of the day next Tuesday to submit your guess
  • Next week on Wednesday, we’ll draw a name and reveal the winner at 365Barrington.com
  • We will contact the winner with instructions about receiving the prize of the week
  • Only one guess per person
  • Your email address must be valid, so we can contact you if you win

There you go! All you have to do is SUBMIT YOUR GUESS IN THE FORM BELOW. We’ll reveal the photo’s location when we debut another new mystery photo next week. And be sure to pay attention to the sights you see around town. It’s the little details that could be on display the next time we ask “Guess Where, Barrington?”

Good luck to all who enter! And here’s one last look at this week’s mystery photo.

Happy International Women’s Day to all women who live with, or care for someone with, mental illness. According to NAMI, “1 in 8 women experiences depression in their lifetime; twice the rate as men, regardless of race or ethnic background.” Furthermore, “some experiences are unique to women, including post-partum changes, infertility, and hormonal fluctuations throughout their lives." Access to mental health care is critically important, as shown during COVID-19, as well as the equality of access to it.
