Mount Prospect native and Barrington neighbor, Lee DeWyze did it!!! He’s officially in the top three and one step closer to winning the 2010 American Idol crown. That means the spotlight shines on Mount Prospect this week when Lee DeWyze comes home with the Ameriacn Idol crew to celebrate his roots here in the Chicago Northwest Suburbs.
DeWyze made the cut during last night’s American Idol “Results Show” and Mount Prospect is on for the DeWyze hometown visit Friday. This former paint store employee turned superstar will start his day tomorrow on the Fox TV program “Good Day Chicago” followed by stops at local radio stations and an AT&T store.
He is scheduled to throw out the first pitch at 1:20PM at Wrigley Field for the Cubs game against Pittsburgh Friday. From there, he’ll make a stop at a District 214 school before kicking off a parade and motorcade at 4:30 along Northwest Highway between Route 83 and Central Road in Mount Prospect. His last stop will be at Arlington Park, where he’ll perform three songs in an hour long mini-conert at 6:30PM hosted by Mount Prospect Mayor Mayor Irvana Wilks. Tickets to that event went on sale immediately after last night’s American Idol results show and are already sold out!
Mount Prospect village officials say “DeWyze Day” could cost up to $40,000, but they’re proud of Lee DeWyze, excited to host his hometown visit and thrilled to throw their support behind a local dude who could be two weeks away from wining it all.
