The St. Patrick’s Day weekend festivities have begun at Barrington’s third annual Celtic Fest! The 3-day Village of Barrington party opened this morning at McGonigal’s Pub, the heated Festival Tent opens this afternoon at 4 and the event will run through Sunday.
So get ready to get your green-on and enjoy your fill of beer and Irish food. There’s a full lineup of live music and NCAA Tournament watching planned over the next three days as we celebrate St. Patrick, Barrington-style.
There is no charge to join the festival at McGonigal’s Pub or the Annex Lounge, but there is a $10 event charge if you’d like to get into the Festival Tent outside of McGonigal’s Pub. For $10, you can also purchase a Full Weekend Pass. You’ll need cash to purchase food and beverages in the tent. Credit cards can be used for services within the pub.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life here in Barrington on Friday, June 7th. There is no charge for kids ages 12 and under during the day and you have to be 21 or older to get in after 6 p.m.
If you’re heading down to Celtic Fest this weekend, be sure to come hungry!
McGonigal’s Pub offering full bar service as they serve Fish & Chips, Reubens Corned Beef & Cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie and Pub Fries plus Hot Dogs with fries and Chicken Fingers with fries for kids inside the pub and The Annex Lounge.
There’s even more food available inside the Festival Tent where McGonigal’s will be serving Corned Beef & Cabbage, Hot Dogs, Spicy Smoked Sausages, Corned Beef Sandwiches plus Guinness, Harp, Smithwick’s, Miller Lite and Blue Moon beers on tap, Budweiser and Bud Light bottled beers, Jameson Irish Whiskey and various wines.
Clarke’s Bakery & Deli will be serving a variety of baked goods, cookies and other items. Heinen’s Fine Foods will be sampling Cheeses of Ireland that they carry in their store and there will also be food available from Cooper’s of Barrington.

The entire event is located in downtown Barrington, centered around McGonigal’s Pub at 105 S. Cook Street, which is located one block east of Rt. 59 (Hough Street) and half a block south of Lake-Cook Road (Main Street).
Access to the event via the Union Pacific Northwest Metra Rail is very convenient as the event is located only two blocks west of the Barrington Station.
